Surface 2 Movie Playback Tips- Watching Blu-ray movies on Surface 2

This article is mainly talking about how to rip Blu-ray movies to Surface 2 support format. Help you enjoy various Blu-rays on the latest Microsoft Surface 2.

Microsoft upgraded the processor in the Surface 2, making it far faster and more responsive than the original Surface RT. The tablet also got a much-needed bump to 1080p resolution, and—like the Surface Pro 2—a redesigned kickstand that makes the device easier to use on your lap. Overall, it’s thinner, lighter, and longer-lived than the Surface RT. Microsoft also includes a year of free Skype calls with the Surface 2, along with a free, two-year 200GB boost to your SkyDrive storage. Part of the Surface 2’s high price can no doubt be attributed to its 10.6-inch, 1080p display. While the Surface 2’s big screen pushes the productivity ideal, there’s no denying that the market has largely moved to smaller, 7- to 8-inch designs.

Do you want to play Blu-ray movies on your Microsoft Surface 2? There is no blu-ray drive for this Windows 8.1 RT tablet, and the Blu-ray videos do not play on Surface 2. You need a program to help you remove the copy protections on commercial Blu-ray.

Step 1. Download and run Pavtube Surface 2 BDMagic or BDMagic for Mac, load your Blu-ray movies into it.

Pavtube BDMagic will detect and list the main title (the full length of this movie) and check it by default. So just keep it untouched and let’s move on to Step 2.

Step 2. Highlight the movie title you want to rip, and then you can click the dropdown menu below “Subtitles” and “Audio” respectively, you will see many presets for difference devices and programs. In this case, you are suggested to select “Microsoft Surface Windows RT/Pro H.264 Video (*.mp4)” as the best MP4 preset for Surface 2.

Step 3. Adjust specs or edit video before conversion (Optional).

Click “Settings” button to configure file quality for Surface Pro 2. After entering “Profile Settings” panel, you are allowed to adjust video and audio parameters such as bit rate, frame rate, sample rate and more.

The recommended video settings for Surface Pro 2:

Video Codec: h264
Size (pix): 1920x1080
Bitrate (kbps): 1500~2500
Frame Rate (fps): original

If you prefer a much better video quality and don’t mind the output file size, you can rise the video bit rate higher than 1500. Generally speaking, the higher video bit rate will result in the larger output file size, and vice versa.
