Add a TS Video to iMovie - Convert TS to MOV for Editing in iMovie

“I have some old home movies originally on 8mm film which was converted in the 1990’s to VHS. This year I had the movies on VHS converted to CDs with the intention of editing them using iMovie on my MAC so that they could be viewed and preserved. Upon receiving the CDs, I discovered that they were in TS format which was not compatible with iMovie on MAC“. If you are in such situation, too, just follow the guide to learn how to add your TS videos to iMovie.

In fact, iMovie can’t support TS file format. In order to drop straight TS files to iMovie 8/9/11 with no rendering, the easy workaround is to transcode TS clips to Apple InterMediate Codec, which is natively supported by iMovie. And to achieve this job, you need a video converter

Pavtube iMedia Converter for Mac(review) is a nice TS to iMovie converter on Mac including Mac OS X El Capitan. The program comes with optimized format for iMovie, which enables you to transcode TS to AIC .mov for using in iMovie directly without any rendering or codec problems. Plus, it also allows you to convert TS to ProRes for FCP, DNxHD for Avid Media Composer, etc editing with best results.
